APPLICANTS FROM INTERNATIONAL OR FOREIGN
EDUCATION SYSTEMS (based in Portugal or UE or EEA)

Applicants who have completed their secondary education in an international or foreign education system in Portugal or EU or EEA must present the entrance examinations required for admission, or officially recognised equivalents. The application deadlines applicable to these candidates are the same as those established for the Portuguese National Contest for Admissions. Any questions regarding eligibility, required examinations or the application process should be addressed directly to the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) or to the Office for Access to Higher Education at the University of Porto.

There are other particular schemes through which candidates may apply (Change of University/Degree, Higher education degrees, Applicants over 23 years old and Re-enrolment).

International Applicants

International candidates interested in applying to FEP should carefully read the formal notice regarding the International Students Applications. This document details the conditions of access, eligibility requirements, and application procedures. Reading the announcement is essential for candidates to verify that they meet all the necessary conditions to participate in the competition.

Required Documentation:

The documentation required varies depending on the candidate’s country of origin. If the candidate comes from a country where there is no final secondary school examination in mathematics, they will need to submit an additional statement. The secondary school leaving certificate and academic transcript must be authenticated with an apostille. All documents must be identified; those that do not identify their holder will not be accepted. Only final exams taken from 2023 onwards (inclusive) will be accepted. All necessary and required documentation can be found in the Notice.

The application will only be considered valid after payment of the application fee (€100), which must be paid by the indicated deadline.

Candidates will be ranked in descending order of marks based on the results of the Mathematics, equivalent to the Mathematics A section of the Portuguese national entrance exam, converted to a scale of 0 to 20. Applicants with a score below 15 will be eliminated from the selection process.

There are also some specific cases, such as applicants who have taken the ENEM, GAOKAO or LIANKAO, IBDP or A-Level exams. These situations are detailed in the notice, which should be consulted carefully.

After the selection period, applicants will be informed of the final result of their application on the FEP website.
